My brother
recently had a little girl; she’s a beauty. She is perfect. She is a blessing
from the Lord. She's 4 months now and has been living on breast milk. Breast
milk (I shall refer to it as B milk from now on) for Bontle is EVERYTHING! It’s
all she’s had during her first few months in this world and it is (more
importantly) all she needs. All she needs to survive is produced by her mother…
a mother who gladly gives it to her. Bontle joyfully accepts this milk. This
girl was born with the ability to accept her mother’s milk. Perfect Bontle is a
hefty baby; she is growing, all on that B milk and I thank the Lord for B milk.
More than that, I thank Him for His amazing design of the entire “woman gets pregnant,
has baby then automatically creates the only food source baby needs to thrive”
process. That process is a demonstration of the Lord’s wisdom and love. In His infinite
wisdom, He thought up and created automatic processes to support life, all
without counsel. Gee wiz! And this after the huge marvel that is pregnancy. It is BEAUTIFUL. It is jaw dropping, just like
everything else the Lord does. It is a testimony of the caliber of the only
true and living God.
Bontle, at
4 months, has known the goodness of the Lord in more ways than we can count. She
may not know that she knows it yet, but she does. The goodness of the Lord is
there whether or not she (or we) can perceive it. See, it’s His character. He
is good. Whether or not you feel like He is all the time doesn’t change that
truth. His goodness is in lungs inhaling and exhaling… your lungs… the lungs of
those you love… the lungs of those that pay your salary… lungs designed by a
holy God to need oxygen that He provides. His goodness is in arriving alive at
any destination. His goodness is in having food. His goodness is in today; your
having a today to speak of is His goodness. His goodness is in a baby’s need
for B milk and a mother’s ability to provide it. The things that we think are
ordinary and basic also testify of the Lord’s goodness. They declare it. Please
don’t let yourself forget that. It makes our ability to obey the command to “rejoice
in the Lord always” (Phil 4:4) much easier.
May your
desire for biblical milk compare to that of an infant’s desire for B milk. And
may your knowledge of the Lord’s goodness encourage you in Him and increase
your desire for Him today and forevermore.
Seth.
He can't help it. He is a good good God. I have been pregnant before. And as a doctor I would worry when I had pains or the baby didn't move for 5 hours and rush to ER as I knew and had seen what possibly could happen. I felt like there was something I had to do to 'make' the baby grow and be healthy. It was such a burden, constantly worrying. God taught me that it is him. The baby will grow anyway because it's God's will. How do you stop the rain from falling? It is who he is. He can't help it. He is good.
ReplyDeleteI have seen very big babies. Only on B milk. I get shocked all the time. This white liquid gives the baby all and more nutrients he or she needs. The creator....
Indeed my friend. We have been taught to control so much in this life but the Lord desires that we trust in and rely on Him completely. The beauty is that we are given joy when we do trust in Him... and that we come out knowing Him more. What a gift! Thank you for your comment!
DeleteReading this just made me even more grateful. Thanks for sharing SethStar!
